The Land of Leh Ladakh

pictures of Ladakh

Ladakh is a land like no other. Bounded by two of the world's most mightiest mountain ranges, the great Himalaya and the Karakorum Himalaya, it is a high-altitude desert located at the western edge of the Tibetan plateau which makes it unique and beautiful in its own way. Isolated settlements of green oases full of swaying poplar trees, apricot orchids and cultivated farmland makes it extraordinary despite the rugged terrain. High altitude and rugged terrain whereLadakh is situated, has people with joyous nature. Their rights, rituals and customs are a testimony to a variety and tasteful past which reflects in their local festivals that take places all through the summer.A visit to Leh palace is a must which holds a rich collection of ornaments, crowns, ceremonial dresses and sooth paintings made from bright and pleasing colours derived from the crushed gems and stones. Besides the old structure of the palace it is also the panoramic view of the city of Leh and the Zanskar range.
