ISKCON Temple Vrindavan Front View

ISKCON TEMPLE VRINDAVAN

This is the actual adobe of lord Krishna, though I am not a fan or follower of ISKCON this place is very mesmerizing.

Unknowingly you will chant and dance to the tunes of "Hare Rama, Hare Krishna"

The evening AARTI is one such beautiful moment you need to experience for yourself.

ISKCON Temple Vrindavan

ISKCON Temple Vrindavan

If you are at Vrindavan, this is the place to visit. Awesome !! is the only word to describe the place. It is a temple of Krishna and Balaram. We went for prayers, however were stuck with the beauty of the deity and the flower decoration. Go their, sit and enjoy for some time.

ISKCON Temple Vrindavan Outside View

Vrindavan, the place where Lord Krishna indulged in his pastimes and where you will find a temple for Krishna in every nook and corner of this town, has over 5000 temples (I am told). In this labyrinth of temples the Iskcon temple stands out due to its sheer sense of "Bhakthi" or devotional service to Krishna. The beautiful temple made of exquisite marble sculpture and the most beautiful deities of Krishna, Radha and Gaura Nitai I have seen till date, reverberate with devotion. Incessant kirtan and bhajan, the flow of devotees (many of the from abroad and many of the ladies look like Gopis in Indian attire), the easily available Prasad and the fabulous Darshan (sight) of the Lord without any long queues make the ISKCON Krishna Balram temple the best in Vrindavan.

ISKCON temple Vrindavan is the best temple that I have ever visited in my life

ISKCON TEMPLE VRINDAVAN

This was the best temple that I have ever visited in my life. The moment I entered the temple I could not believe my eyes. The fresh flowers were looking gorgeous. The vibes in the temple were amazing. I loved the chanting and the devotees are absolutely friendly they made us feel at home. I will visit the temple over and over again and would recommend anyone to visit this temple and have the best experience of their life.

Lord Krishna and Govardhan Hill Story and Sculptures

Govardhan Puja is celebrated the day after Diwali. It is the day Lord Krishna defeated Indra, the deity of thunder and rain. As per the story, Krishna saw huge preparations for the annual offering to Indra and questions his father Nanda about it. He debated with the villagers about what their 'dharma' truly was. They were farmers, they should do their duty and concentrate on farming and protection of their cattle. He continued to say that all human beings should merely do their 'karma', to the best of their ability and not pray or conduct sacrifices for natural phenomenon. The villagers were convinced by Krishna, and did not proceed with the special puja (prayer). Indra was then angered, and flooded the village. Krishna then lifted Mt Govardhan and held it up as protection to his people and cattle from the rain. Indra finally accepted defeat and recognized Krishna as supreme. This aspect of Krishna's life is mostly glossed over - but it actually set up on the basis of the 'karma' philosophy later detailed in the Bhagavad Gita.

Prem Mandir- A Symbol Of True Love

Radha Krishna Sculptures - Prem Mandir

Radha Krishna Sculptures - Prem Mandir

As the name suggests "Prem Mandir" is the statue of true love of "Lord Krishna & Radha". I believe it is one of the finest temples of India in terms of architecture and construction. One must not miss to visit this temple whenever at "Vrindavan". All the idols of Radh-Krishna seems talking and at the entrance of the temple there is one place where Lord Krishna's very big statue is moving electrically on Kaalia Naag. This is one of the best places to visit at Vrindavan.

Inside of Govinda Dev Temple - Vrindavan

Govinda Dev Temple was a grand seven-story structure, with an altar of marble, silver and gold. Architecturally this temple is one of the finest in North India. A sculptured lotus flower weighing several tons decorates the main hall ceiling. It was built in 1590 by Raja Man Singh from Jaipur, a general in Akbar's army, who was inspired to do it after meeting Rupa Gosvami. It was said to have cost ten million rupees and several thousand men were working for five full years to complete it. Akbar himself had donated the red sandstone for its construction. In 1670, during the rule of a later Mughal king, Aurangzeb, it was plundered and destroyed leaving only three stories of the original temple. During this attack, when few stories remained, all of a sudden the ground began to shake violently and Aurangzeb's men were terrified and ran for their lives, never to return.

Temple is now empty and the replica of Govindaji is worshiped in the new Govindaji Mandir (located behind the original temple). The original Govindaji is worshiped in Jaipur.
